FAQ — UF

01What is a good UF GPA?

A 3.0 cumulative GPA at UF is solid. 3.5+ qualifies for Dean’s List. Latin honors at UF: Cum Laude 3.50+, Magna Cum Laude 3.75+, Summa Cum Laude 3.90+. UF’s honors program (UF Honors) admission targets 4.0 weighted high-school GPA and 1370+ SAT. Warrington Business and Engineering graduate programs typically want 3.3+.

02How does UF’s Bright Futures GPA work?

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship recipients need to maintain specific cumulative GPAs to keep the award: 3.0 for the Florida Academic Scholars award (FAS) and 2.75 for Florida Medallion (FMS). The check is done at the end of each academic year based on UF cumulative GPA.

03Does UF use plus/minus grading?

Yes. UF uses +/- grading: A+/A = 4.0, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, B = 3.0, B- = 2.67, C+ = 2.33, C = 2.0, C- = 1.67, D+ = 1.33, D = 1.0, D- = 0.67, E (failure) = 0.0. Note UF uses "E" for failing grade, not "F".

04What is the UF minimum GPA to stay enrolled?

UF undergraduates need a 2.0 cumulative GPA to remain in good standing. Below 2.0 triggers academic probation, then dismissal if not corrected. Many UF colleges (Business, Engineering, Journalism) impose higher progression GPA requirements (often 2.5-3.0) for entry into upper-division major courses.
